It’s no surprise that I love homeopathy, it’s obvious, I’m a Homeopath after all. I love the deep shifts it brings about for individuals, I love the healing, I love witnessing people change before my eyes and flying (not literally, not yet anyway), living life, being fully present and doing their thing with enthusiasm and joy!
I also love to see people learn about homeopathy, using their first aid kits to help themselves, family and friends… the more the merrier. And with a simple first aid kit, so many situations can be helped and healed. Here are some of the great first aid remedies included in basic kits, they’re all great actually but hopefully you’ll find these really useful:
~ Arnica – we all know about the magic of Arnica! Every home and office (not to mention doctors surgery and hospital) should have a tube of arnica cream and a pot of Arnica 30c pills, easily accessible to people of all ages. Of course it’s for bumps and bruises but it also helps to calm the shock of an accident. One thing to keep in mind though is that it’s best not to give Arnica straight before surgery or straight after dentistry… Arnica’s magical action is to send blood flow to the wound to help it to heal more quickly but with fresh wounds that might not be so much fun… nothing to be afraid of just aware of.
~ Nux Vomica – another all time favourite for easing the effects of over-indulgence. A few too many wines, that extra helping of rich dessert, business trips where you felt you should join in. It’s great for relieving liver related headaches too (those nasty headaches that are felt at the temples). I used to take a dose before partying or before a big meal, and again when I got in from a night out and it would help so much to lighten the load on my liver and on my head the next day. I always recommend it to teenage patients… if they’re going to explore they might as well lighten the load and decrease the effects. And if you’re trying to convince hubbie or boyfriend that this little white pills actually do something – this is a great way in!
~ Mag Phos – this one is brilliant for period pain! Keep in mind that period pain isn’t necessary and if you experience it each month then some deeper treatment is needed, but it can come occasionally seemingly out of the blue (but usually for good reason) so Mag Phos is a great one to keep in mind. It eases cramps, so is also really useful for neuralgia, any cramp pain really… leg cramps, stomach cramps, nerve cramps.
~ Ignatia - ah! Such a blessing for emotional times, for recent grief (or even old grief as it comes to the surface to clear), tears, heart-ache. Ignatia allows the tears to flow elegantly. You might still get puffy eyes and a red nose but the tears will flow without resistance… and that means they flow and release more quickly. Better out than in, and with grace . Hand this one out at funerals and to girlfriends with recently broken hearts.
~ Staphysagria – if you feel you’ve been treated unfairly, feel insulted, violated, have been yelled at and it feels like an invasion, feel cheated, you might be angry for what has happened, then Staphysagria is your friend! It will help to heal and clear that sense of invasion, to clear the related anger at the invasion and injustice… that ‘how dare they do that, say that, think that’ rattle will disappear.
~ Rhus Tox – this one’s for the yogis as it’s a great remedy for sprains and strains! Especially if you have sprained something and it’s stiff, easing as you move it. Keep in mind Arnica too!
Did you also know that homeopathy’s not just for first aid situations? It’s brilliant for treating deep imbalances, for healing past trauma of any kind, for clearing blockages that prevent us from moving forward, it works on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level and can heal way back to the first cause of an imbalance, no matter when that was. It’s limitless and I love that!
So enjoy using your first aid kit, enjoy sharing your remedies to help others, enjoy sharing the magic of Homeopathy. And enjoy working on those deeper issues, on setting yourself free to shine!
You can order a first aid kit from most Homeopathic Pharmacies, they’re such a great investment. Pharmacies in London include Helios (www.helios.co.uk) and Ainsworths (www.ainsworths.com) and both are happy to post kits and remedies to you.
